The LightHouse Extends InternetSpeech’s
netECHO Service to its member-base
SAN JOSE – March 1, 2005 – InternetSpeech, a premier voice Internet technology provider, announced today that it has inked a deal with LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired to provide a custom Voice Internet solution that will enable LightHouse website visitors quick and easy access to all contents and applications on its website via telephone .
This custom service is based on InternetSpeech’s netECHO® voice Internet solution, a unique technology allowing effective Web surfing, searching, and email access using its intelligent voice/audio browser over any telephone in the world. netECHO basically lets users talk and listen to the Internet using any phone, without a computer.
“People no longer need a computer to surf the Web or interact with the applications on the web,” said Dr. Emdad Khan, president and CEO of InternetSpeech, Inc. “Blind people struggling with inaccessible Web sites, businesspeople away from their desks, and seniors afraid to tackle computers can now use the phone to tap the resources of the Internet.”
“Increasing the efficiency with which blind and visually impaired individuals access information is a core commitment of the LightHouse,” said LightHouse Executive Director Anita Aaron. “By partnering with InternetSpeech, we offer another means by which our blind and visually impaired constituency can effectively access our website, as well as the entire Internet.”
