InternetSpeech.com Hires Seasoned Vice President of Marketing and Sales

Ed Kennedy to Market New Service Allowing Audio Internet Access Via Any Phone

SAN JOSE, CA–InternetSpeech.com, an audio Internet Service Provider developing a new service that lets people surf the Web and check their email using an ordinary telephone, announced today it has hired Ed Kennedy as Vice President of Marketing and Sales.

Kennedy brings a wealth of expertise to his new position, with 20 years of experience in traditional marketing for major communications companies, as well as Internet-based marketing.

InternetSpeech.com plans to offer the new service - called netECHO™ - early next year. The product uses speech recognition and text-to-speech technologies to let people access the Internet without a computer from any phone, any time. Using simple voice commands, users will be able to surf the Web, hear their email, record replies, search for and hear Web site information, and conduct e-commerce. A computerized voice "reads" the requested information out loud over the phone, without a computer or phone with a visual display screen.

"I'm very excited to be working with InternetSpeech.com. They're developing a dynamite service that will appeal to a wide variety of market segments, including mobile business people, the visually impaired, and people without computer access," Kennedy said.

Kennedy joined InternetSpeech.com in November 1999 from Entrée.net, where he provided Internet startups with expertise in Web-based marketing, technology evaluations, e-commerce applications and venture capital financing.

Prior to Entrée.net, Kennedy was Vice President of Marketing and International Sales at Interfax LP, an IP telephony company, where he built the company from a "startup" to a successful company with operations in 25 countries. Before Interfax, he worked as an executive at Pacific Bell for several years in a variety of marketing positions and as a General Manager of a business unit of 300 employees. He also worked as a sales and marketing executive with AT&T and Sprint (SP Communications) prior to joining Pacific Bell.

Kennedy has an MBA in marketing from the University of Notre Dame.

About InternetSpeech.com
InternetSpeech.com is headquartered in San Jose, CA. It was founded in 1998 to provide audio-based access to the Internet via telephone. The company believes that today’s increasingly mobile and information-driven society will require alternative ways to go on-line when away from a computer terminal. They’re also interested in serving segments of the population, such as the visually impaired, that are not well-served by visually-based Internet access, as well as potential users who don’t own or have access to a computer.
